Schedule a ConsultationA comprehensive evaluation may be helpful if your child is struggling academically, behaviorally, socially, or emotionally. Common reasons families seek an evaluation include possible ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, learning disabilities, developmental delays, Anxiety, executive functioning difficulties, or challenges with attention, organization, and school performance.
You may want to consider an evaluation if your child:
- Is struggling with reading, writing, math, or other academic skills
- Has difficulty paying attention, staying organized, or completing tasks
- Appears significantly behind or ahead of peers developmentally or academically
- Experiences social challenges or difficulty making and maintaining friendships
- Demonstrates behavioral or emotional concerns that interfere with daily functioning
- May need school accommodations, an IEP, or a 504 Plan
- Has been recommended for testing by a teacher, pediatrician, therapist, or other professional
If you're unsure whether testing is appropriate, I offer free consultations to discuss your concerns and determine whether a psychoeducational, Autism, ADHD, or learning disability evaluation would be beneficial.
Yes. I provide comprehensive evaluations for a wide range of conditions that can impact a child's development, learning, behavior, and emotional well-being. This includes Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia and other learning disabilities, executive functioning challenges, developmental delays, and social-emotional concerns. The evaluations are designed to identify your child's strengths and needs, provide diagnostic clarity when appropriate, and offer practical recommendations to support their success at home, school, and beyond.
Comprehensive evaluations are provided for children, adolescents, and young adults ages 2 through 21.
Yes. I provide comprehensive Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults. An Autism evaluation examines social communication, social interaction, behavior patterns, sensory differences, developmental history, and other factors that may be associated with autism.
The evaluation process includes interviews, standardized assessment measures, record review, and observations as appropriate. If your child meets diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder, I provide a clear explanation of the findings along with individualized recommendations for support, treatment, educational planning, and community resources.
Yes. I provide comprehensive ADHD evaluations to assess concerns related to attention, focus, impulsivity, executive functioning, organization, and self-regulation. ADHD symptoms can sometimes overlap with learning disabilities, anxiety, autism, or other developmental concerns, which is why a thorough evaluation is important.
Our ADHD assessments are designed to determine whether Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is present while also identifying any co-occurring conditions that may be affecting your child's functioning at home, school, or in social settings.
Yes. I provide comprehensive learning disability evaluations, including assessments for Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, and other Specific Learning Disorders. These evaluations examine academic skills such as reading, writing, spelling, math, language processing, memory, and cognitive abilities to identify factors that may be impacting learning.
The goal of a learning disability evaluation is to understand how your child learns best and provide recommendations that support academic success both at school and at home.
Yes. I provide Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) for families seeking an objective assessment outside of the school district. Parents may pursue an IEE when they disagree with the findings of a school evaluation, have concerns that were not fully addressed, or would like a more comprehensive understanding of their child's needs.
IEEs are conducted independently and can provide valuable information regarding learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, educational placement, accommodations, interventions, and eligibility for special education services.
School-based evaluations are conducted by a public school district to determine whether a student qualifies for special education services and supports under educational guidelines.
A private evaluation is conducted independently and often provides a more comprehensive assessment of a child's cognitive, academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental functioning. Private evaluations can diagnose conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other learning or developmental differences, while also offering detailed recommendations for home, school, and clinical support.
Many families seek a private evaluation when they want diagnostic clarity, a second opinion, a more in-depth assessment, or recommendations that extend beyond educational eligibility.
We are considered "out of network" by insurance carriers. However, we can provide a SuperBill to present to your insurance company for possible reimbursement as out of network.
We charge a flat fee for our evaluations. The cost varies by the area(s) of concern. To best understand the needs of your child, a complimentary 30-minute consultation is provided.
We want your child to show up as they are and not feel the pressure to perform or hide what is going on with them. Before the evaluation, let your child know they'll be meeting with a specialist who will ask them questions and give them some tasks to complete. You can share that our job is to understand how they learn and what they might need to do better in school. It's an opportunity to share what is going well and what has been tough. It's okay to feel nervous, remind your child that the specialist is there to help them.
We understand that schedules can change. We ask for at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling to avoid a cancellation fee.
Let's find the right path, together.
If you're feeling unsure about whether your child needs an evaluation, you're not alone. During your consultation, you can expect to:
- Share your concerns and observations about your child
- Receive professional input from Dr. Kandece Skinner
- Ask questions about the evaluation process
- Gain clarity on whether testing is recommended
- Understand possible next steps
